The newly formed Women in Service Excellence’s committee announced Dina Dwyer-Owens as its honorary chair for 2012 at last months Appliance Service Technical Institute in San Antonio, TX.
UASA’s Treasurer, Krystle Freelove, along with UASA member Catie Bloom, developed the committee to network with and promote female members of the appliance trade on all levels.
“We want more business owners to bring their customer service representatives with them to our convention to really get involved and be apart of the appliance industry. We want spouses to come and enjoy the comrade of other women while their partner is attending class. We’d love to see more women technicians in the appliance trade!,” says Freelove.
You may recognize Dina from going undercover as a participant in CBS’s hit reality show, “Undercover Boss”, an episode that aired January 22nd. Dina is Chairwoman and CEO of The Dwyer Group, home of franchise brands: Mr. Appliance, Mr. Rooter, Aire Serv, Mr. Electric, Rainbow International, and Glass Doctor.
Dina spoke about her experience on Undercover Boss at the ATSI convention. While being “Undercover” she was paired with other female service professionals, who proved to be great at their jobs. W.I.S.E shares Dina’s desires to see more female professionals in the service industry. W.I.S.E. plans on creating programs to help women in this male dominated industry and spread the word with more marketing and campaigning to get more women involved.
